Integrated CO2 capture and methanation on Ru/CeO2-MgO combined materials: Morphology effect from CeO2 support

Integrated CO2 capture and methanation (ICCM) is attracting more attention to promote the reduction of emission. This work developed applied a set combined materials using Ru/CeO2 as catalyst physically mixed Li, Na, K-doped MgO adsorbent for ICCM process. The influences morphologies CeO2 (rod, particle, cube) in are investigated explicitly terms conversion CH4 yield. Compared with cube morphology, rod particle showed better Ru dispersion abundant support-metal interaction (SMI). (Ru/rod-CeO2-MgO Ru/particle-CeO2-MgO) show superior catalytic performance (0.33 0.29 mmol/g yield 55.7% 59.8% conversion, respectively) than that Ru/cube-CeO2-MgO. Furthermore, Ru/rod-CeO2-MgO shows excellent stability reusability during 9 cyclic evaluations. In situ DRIFTS Ru/CeO2-MgO revealed formates dissociated (Ru-CO) might be critical intermediates ICCM.
